Celeb Look: Iggy Azalea Inspired Makeup Tutorial (Video)

Click the pic to watch the video

Hey guys!
I've been completely obsessed with Iggy Azalea. I don't know what it is, but I love her. While visiting the fam in Houston over the 4th of July holiday, my sister and I decided to create an Iggy Azalea inspired video. It was so much fun doing this look and I think it looks great on Crystal. I really think it would look great on anyone especially for over the summer.

Iggy Azalea always wears classic winged liner and usually coats her lips with either a nude or bright pop of pink or red.

Vintage Black Gold Tutorial

Hey guys!

So here lately I've gone on a "let's clean out everything in my closet" binge and surprisingly enough, that included my makeup. I pretty much got rid of about 50% of my makeup (maybe a little less, but it was a lot). While going through my makeup, one thing lead to another and I started swatching things and eventually realized I was in the mood to do a full face with some rediscovered products I found in the black hole area of my makeup drawers. I wanted to use some of my older products. but also incorporate a few new things. I decided to create a look around the Stila Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eyeshadow in Vintage Black Gold. I've heard a lot of mixed reviews on these pigments and I wanted to share with you a little of what I've learned about the application process. I will explain more in detail in the tutorial below. I hope you all enjoy this look and get inspired!

Apply your favorite primer first. I used MAC's Paint Pot in Soft Ochre. Next, apply a transition shade a few shades darker than your natural skin tone. I used Naked from the original UD Naked palette.

Next, take a dark black shade and create a sideways V shade in the outer corner of your lid. This will add depth to the look when you later apply the glitter pigment.

Then, apply a sticky base on the lid from the inner corner to about half way through the black V you created. The glitter should overlap the black slightly. Only apply this sticky base where you want the glitter. If you go up too high (anywhere above your crease) it will look messy and be harder to blend later.

This glittery pigment is very unique and nothing like anything else I have in my collection. It is slightly squishy and bouncy to the touch kind of like a cream but isn't. It's strange. It comes with a liquid eye primer you are supposed to drop into a small pan and mix with the glitter pigment, then apply it with a synthetic brush across your lid. I honestly don't like the results I get by doing it that way so I came up with my own way to use it. I simply dip my ring finger into the glitter pigment and apply it directly onto my lid. No liquid primer and no mixing crazy, nonsense stuff together. By applying it with your finger, you will get the most color payoff and your lids will look AWESOME!

Now that you've applied the glitter, take a slightly darker transition shade and rock it back and forth into your socket/crease. This will help blend the edges of the glitter and darken the look a tad.

Let's not forget the lower lash line. I ran Sable all the way across the lower lash line, Espresso across 2/3 of the lower lash line and finally Black on the outer 1/3 of the lower lash line and blended.

For highlight, I kept it simple by going with a matte cream color in the inner corner of the eye and underneath the brow. Notice how I am only using matte eyeshadows (other than the obvious glitter we applied). This draws the attention to the glittery goodness on the mobile lid and doesn't overwhelm the look with too much shimmer and glitter.

Last, finish with a coat of mascara and some wispy lashes. I love these by Ardell.

And here's the final look.

I hope you enjoyed this look! Let me know what you think in the comments below :) Also, if you recreate this look, tag me in your picture on Instagram. I'd love to see what you come up with!

2014 Spring Trends

Hey guys!
Recently I was contacted to do this post by Michelle from Girl Friday XO and of course I jumped at the opportunity! She is so sweet and of course if you haven't checked out her blog, what are you waiting for?? She also makes Youtube videos so check those out as well! So, without further ado... here are some of this Spring's hottest trends!

2014 Spring Trends: Soft Berry Lips, Bright Orange Lips, Blue Shadow/Liner, White shadow with white liner, Metallic lids with glitter, Glowing Skin, Pop of Green, Rosy Pink Shadow

Soft Berry Lips- A great way to wear soft berry lips is to first apply a clear coat of lip balm. This will moisturize your lips so they don't look dry when you apply color. Next, take a berry lipstick and apply it to your lips using your ring finger. This will distribute color to your lips without looking to heavy or over- done. This doesn't have to be perfect. Simply apply the color and press your lips together to smooth out any harsh lines.

Try- Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Bit of Berry or MAC Rebel Lipstick
Try- NYX Loose Pearl Shadow in Oro or MAC pressed pigment inBlonde Streak
Try-Wet N’Wild trio in I Dream of Greenie or Urban Decay’sKush
Try-Milani powder shadow inTickled Pink or Laura Mercier baked eye color in Petal Pink

Bright Orange Lips- I LOVE this trend! When it comes to orange lipstick, go for a color with more red in it as opposed to more yellow. Too much yellow in an orange lipstick can be tricky to wear because it can make you look sickly. Unlike berry lips, orange lips look best when they are neat and clean. Take your orange lipstick and apply it with a lip brush to get a smooth line and even application. Clean up any mistakes with a Q-tip.
Try- Kiss Me Coral from Revlon or MAC Morange Lipstick

Blue Shadow/Liner- This Spring, think saturated colors across the eyes. There are several ways to wear cerulean blues so it should be easy to pick a style that suits you best. One way is to line the lower lash line with the color while keeping the top half of the eye naked or neutral. Another way is to pop the color on the outer corner of your eye while keeping the inner two thirds of your eye free of the vibrant color. Lastly, the most subtle way to add color is with an eyeliner. Simply line your waterline and add mascara to curled lashes with neutral lids.

Try- Milani Liquif'eye Eyeliners in Aqua and Blue. Also try Sephora Colorful Eyeshadow in Pool Party (18)

White Shadow/Liner- This is my favorite trend for the season by far! It was a hit on the runway during Fashion Week. Rock this look by sweeping a soft white over your entire lid and inner corner, then lining your waterline with a white Kohl liner. Feeling daring? Try doing a cat eye look with a white liquid liner instead of black. Load on the mascara to top off this fresh look.
Try-Cover Girl SnowBlossom shadow or Urban Decay’s Zephyr. Liners: Rimmel Soft Kohl liner in Pure White or Lime Crime liquid liner in Lunar Sea

Metallic Lids w/Glitter- Girls’ Night Out won’t be the same when you step out wearing this look. To execute try foiling a shadow that already contains glitter or tap on a pigment with a spritz of Fix +. To foil a shadow all you need is a wet brush. You can wet the brush using water or Fix +. A great alternative to Fix + is eye drops. Any brand will do. Be sure to use a tapping motion when applying any product containing glitter. Tip: Apply your eye makeup first then do your foundation. This will sweep away any fall-out from the glitter.

Glowing Skin- Glowing skin is beautiful paired with the pops of colors mentioned. To keep your look from falling flat, make sure your skin is taken care of by exfoliating, moisturizing, and keeping a light hand when applying foundation. You want to look fresh for Spring, so stay away from heavy duty foundations that can make you look cakey.

Pop of Green- This color is definitely for color lovers. Take any green shadow and drag it along your lower lash line. Keep the rest of your look neutral and let the green be the stand out. Think creamy shadow on the lid and a basic brown in the crease.

Rosy Pink Shadow-What better way to show your femininity than with the ultimate girly color? Be sure to use a flesh toned base before applying otherwise you may look sickly. Also, I would steer clear of this look if you are extremely Fair in complexion it may not be the most flattering. Put this color on your lids to give an ethereal appearance. Wear with just mascara for a soft and pretty presentation.

If you have any questions or comments feel free to comment below! I love you loved this post and thank you Michelle for including me in this post!

Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel Bronze Universel Dupe/Review

Hey guys!
Today, I wanted to show you a Chanel dupe I found from Target. Yay! Who doesn't love a cheaper alternative? So, if you've followed my blog for a while, you know that I wanted the Chanel Bronze Universel for THE longest time and I finally bought it in July. You can read that review here. On a recent trip to Target, I saw that Sonia Kashuk had a cream bronzer and it immediately caught my attention and made me wonder if it could possibly be similar to the Chanel bronzer. Once, I brought it home and swatched it, I knew it was.

Sonia Kashuk Creme Bronzer- Warm Tan (41)

I think the packaging is very sleek looking but for the amount of product you get, the packaging is a little bulky.

The lid has a nice magnetic closure unlike the Chanel that has a twist on top.

This cream bronzer comes in two shades- Warm Tan (41) and Rich Bronze (42). This one is Warm Tan (41). The other is darker in color.

Underneath the bronzer is a little compartment, which holds a round sponge. There is also a mirror for when you're on the go. I don't find this sponge useful but hey, to each their own.

Left-blended, Right-swatched
This bronzer glides on the skin with ease and blends out beautifully. It's VERY easy to blend into the skin and leaves a satin/dewy finish.

Here are the two cream bronzers side-by-side. The Chanel bronzer is 1 once and I am unsure of how much product is in the Sonia Kashuk bronzer (it doesn't say).

The Chanel packaging is clearly bigger than the Sonia Kashuk but I don't think it's something to just throw in your purse. It's more likely to sit pretty on your vanity. The Sonia Kashuk, however, I look at as something I would throw in my purse and that's why I think for the amount of product you get (and I know it's less than 1oz.) the packaging seems a little bulky.

The color of the two bronzers are pretty much identical.

In the picture above, I wanted to capture the difference in texture. Though they are both creams, the Chanel bronzer is a drier formula than the Sonia Kashuk.

Sonia Kahuk- top, Chanel- bottom
Again, the colors are identical, yet the Sonia Kashuk has a wetter or more dewy finish than Chanel.

Sonia Kahuk- top, Chanel- bottom
I wanted to see how they both looked when I set them with powder and as you can see, they look identical. In this case, I set the cream bronzers with Makeup Forever's HD Setting Powder.

Overall, if you really want the Chanel Bronze Universel but hate the idea of spending $48, the Sonia Kashuk Undetectable Creme Bronzer in Warm Tan (41) is a great alternative and is quite the steal for $10.99. Though it is creamier in texture, once it is set with a powder, it looks virtually the same. I also feel that the Sonia Kashuk gives a pretty, dewy bronzed look when used as an all over bronzer. Now, do I regret buying the Chanel? Yes and No. Yes, for the fact that there is a really good dupe out there for a fraction of the price but no, for the fact that I wanted that bronzer for FOREVER and I feel $$ RICH $$ when I use it. lol I pretty much use the Chanel when I'm feeling fancy ;P

Hopefully, this helped anyone out there who is on the fence about splurging on an expensive cream bronzer or is just looking for a cheap Chanel dupe. Let me know if you've tried either of these and how you like them.
