Beauty Tag

I was recently tagged by Faux Guru to answer these questions. I figured why not?? It's a way for everyone to get to know me better, right? So lets get started!

1. If you could choose to be born in any era, which would you choose?
I would choose to live in the 50s era. I love the way the women were actually "ladies." They would put effort into doing their hair and makeup and their appearance, overall, was very important. The way women looked back then was very classy. I also love the classic winged eyeliner and red lips- it's timeless.

2. If you could only shop at one beauty store for the rest of your life, which would it be?
I would say either Sephora or Macy's. Both places have a wide variety of brands of makeup to choose from so I can't imagine I'd get too bored of the selection any time soon.

3. What is a dream of yours?
Well, since this is a beauty related tag, my beauty related dream would be to move to L.A. and become a well-known makeup artist. I would love to do makeup for runway shows or movies. I would also love to teach people how to apply makeup in a one-on-one session or in group sessions.

4. Everyone loves pancakes! What's your favorite flavor?
Chocolate Chip Pancakes. :) I looove chocolate.

5. Why did you start blogging?
Well, to be completely honest, I can be a pretty shy person when it comes to doing new things or meeting people. I'm usually not one to "put everything out there," so to speak. One day, while watching beauty videos on youtube, I thought "Hmmm... I think I can make Youtube videos." BUT, instead, I decided to start off with baby steps and create a blog to see how I like it. So far, I LOVE it. I'm still debating on starting youtube videos but only time will tell. :)

6. Would you rather be a talented singer, actor, or dancer?
With no doubt in my mind, I would love to be a singer. I absolutely love to sing. I sing ALL the time. I think the other dream job I would want to have (not beauty related) would probably be singing. I've thought about trying out for American Idol or other talent shows but again, I can be timid at first because I don't like putting myself out of my comfort zone... Something I'm seriously trying to work on. I also like to dance, but singing is really where my heart is.

7. Are you a cheek, eyes, or lips kind of gal?
Definitely eyes, no doubt. I believe one's eyes are the main focal point of a person's face and I think it's the one thing everyone should enhance the most. Eyes show emotion and I believe you can mimic your inner emotions by doing your eye makeup in a way that copies what you're feeling inside.

8.What's your favorite number?
3. I don't know why but I just like the number 3.

9. What's your favorite season for style?
I really like the Fall season. I like that you can layer your clothes. You can add as many layers as you want and if it gets hot, you can easily shred off pieces of clothing you don't want. In the fall, you can get away with wearing short sleeves, long sleeves, shorts, or pants- really anything goes in the fall.

10. Can you make a fishy face?
Lol. Yes.

11. What color nail polish are you wearing right this very second?!
Well, I actually don't have any nail polish on my finger nails but on my toes I have my "Nautical Nails" painted on them. :)

Look Book: Pink Stripes

Top- Rue 21, Shorts & Necklace- F21, Shoes- Cato

Clearly, I'm obsessed with stripes right now... and with these turquoise heels. :) I'm so glad it's friday! Unfortunately, I have to catch up on a ton of school work this weekend so that should be fun. Not! What are everyone else's plans for this weekend? Anything exciting?
While I was taking pics for this look, the neighborhood dog decided to pay me a visit. Her name is Ruby but I usually call her Ruby Tuesday or Rubs (pronounced Roobs). She's such a sweet old dog. She likes to go swimming in the lake which, I think, is pretty cute. Anyways, I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

Nautical Nails ♥

The polishes I used are: L.A. Colors Super Strength Nail Builder (as a base coat), L.A. Colors- Energy Source, China Glaze- Turned Up Turquoise (Neon), Absolute!- Pink, and Seche Vite Top Coat.

1. First, Apply your base coat.

2. Layer each nail with the white polish. This took me two coats to make it completely opaque.

3. Take a thin nail art brush and dip it into the turquoise color. For this, I used another brush from a nail art polish (L.A. Colors Art Deco Nail Polish).

4. Touch up. If you've made any mistakes on the lines, this is where you would want to go back to touch-up. I took an L.A. Colors Art Deco Nail Polish in White and repainted over any mess-ups I made with the turquoise color.

5. Take a dotting tool, or toothpick and paint a heart. I made two side-by-side dots and connected them by dragging the ends down to create a point.

6. Let completely dry.

7. Add a top coat. Make sure your polish is completely dry before adding a top coat. If you apply the top coat too soon it will run the colors together and ruin your work.

And that's it! Cute and fun for summer! This is my take on the nautical look. I love the usual navy blue stripes with red accents but I wanted to spruce this pedi up with summertime neons. I hope you like it!

Look Book: Black Chiffon

Top and Necklace- F21, Shorts- Target, Heels- Cato, Purse- Charming Charlie's
I love this outfit! I like the pop of turquoise in the shoes- I think it adds that little extra something. I also like how the shirt is very lightweight and how it has beautiful lace detail on the back. Let me know what you think :)

Get Sandal Ready... At Home Pedicure

Summer's arising and we're pulling out the flip flops and sandals. Don't leave home with dry, cracked feet from the cooler weather. It's time to get our feet in tip top shape so we can look good in our cute shoes or look good without shoes. Here is a list of things we should do to get our feet looking soft and smooth.

1. Completely remove any pre-existing nail polish from toes. We want to start fresh.
2. Fill the tub or a plastic tub of water up to your ankles. Add bath salts or Epson salt to your water. Add about a quarter to half a cup. This will loosen up the hard calluses on the bottoms of your feet. Let soak for 15 to 20 minutes depending on how rough your feet are. (You could also add oils in the water for extra softness.)
3. Exfoliate your feet. My favorite way to exfoliate my feet is by using a pumice. My all time favorite is by Mr. Pumice. I got mine from Sally's Beauty Supply. This pumice works wonders, seriously. Make sure to really focus exfoliating the heels and balls of your feet- this is where it tends to be the roughest.
Only a couple bucks!
4. Use a cuticle oil over your cuticles and let sit for about a minute. Then, take an orange stick or cuticle pusher and push your cuticles back. After, take cuticle clippers or nail clippers and trim off your cuticles. (Did I say cuticles enough times? lol)
5. Trim and Shape your nails. Be careful not to trim your nails too short but also don't keep them too long (that can look kind of weird, either way.) I would say keep them a little shorter than the tips of your toes. Use a straight pair of nail clippers- the rounded clippers can leave your with an uneven and jagged nail.
6. Moisturize your feet. This is key to having pretty feet. After soaking, exfoliating, and clipping, your feet will be dry and be dying for moisture. Use a thick cream and let it soak into your feet. Your feet will feel so much better.
7. Finally, paint your toes. During the warmer seasons is when I like to experiment with different toe colors. Bust out a bright neon color- it's totally on trend for summer anyways, so why not? Not feeling that bold? Stick with a classic color like a rich red- it always looks so fresh on toes. One final thing, if you mess up painting your toes, go back with nail polish remover to clean up the edges. We didn't go through all this work to wreck it at the end!

Happy Sandal Season!

Colorblock: Pastels

Blazer, Top- F21, Pants- Walmart, Wedges- Payless, Bracelet- Charming Charlie's

The second I saw this bracelet, I fell in love. I love how the emerald eyes draw you to the bracelet and how it sparkles in the sun. It's so chic and "expensive" looking. On another note, something I realized the other day was that I have never been so into pastels like I have been this year. I guess I thought pastel colors were so cliche around easter and spring seasons but this year I've really embraced the light, delicate colors. What do you think about pastels? too cliche or right on trend?
